GET OUT.

So I follow Neil Gaiman's blog with the vigour of a freaky cyber-stalker, right?  The other day he was cold, so he was hit with the impulse to get in his car and drove to... Florida?  And he's writing about his experience, when he states that he parked for a while to do an online radio show... and he parked on Lookout Mountain.  Holy freaking cow.  Makes me wish I'd been there this week... imagine going to the Starbucks, and glancing in the car parked next to you and it was Neil freaking Gaiman?  I'd've died on the spot.

Speaking of, I'm getting that urge again to drive back down there.  It's just so pretty... but I really can't.  I just got back from Jersey, and Amy (and maybe Merlin?  Hint hint poke poke?) are coming in late March, and I just plain old can't afford to take time off between now and then.  Especially if I'm seriously considering ComiCon this summer.  Which I totally am.

Hmm.... ComiCon.  Well, it's $75 for the entire weekend, or between $25-35 per day.  That's... doable.  I'm just scared to comit, because I like to pretend like there's a possibility I'd be getting a real job between now and July.  Which, of course, is assuming I'd actually get off my lazy, lazy butt and send in an application or resume to someone somewhere.  Which is an awfully big assumption.

Bah.  BAH!

I think that's the worst thing I've ever read in my life.  WHY, GEORGE?  WHY??!

Then again, part of me desperately wants to see it.  Sigh.

blah, blah, blah.

And now for something completely different:

Google Chrome needs to support skins.  Leik nao plzkthx.

And also, Paul just proposed to her.  Completely out of the blue.  Took me by just as much suprise as it took Harleen, to be honest.  Shocked me even more when she said yes.  This is going to make his enevitable demise that much more twisted and awesome.

*whispers* lookit my word count on the sidebar!  Lookit it! XD

motto.

I just read this post in a discussion forum that basically sums up the entirety of the Joker-being-written-badly discussion:  "Anyone can kill someone with a tire iron.  It takes a special kind of sicko to brainwash a superhero's sidekick into being your 'son'."

As they say in the world of s_d... MOTTO.

gurk. ack.

It is a bad thing when you have a really bad chest cold, and something makes you unexpectedly crack up.  I think I just almost literally died laughing.  All because of some ridiculous children's book.  (Hint: it was when my favorite person showed up)

Also, that community?  Is my new most favorite thing in life.  Though if you go poking around in it much, be warned there's a fair bit that's nsfw in it.  And lots and lots of implied Batman/Robin make-outs.

o. m. g. I need that. Need it.

Patient J.

So I'm not really one for fan made movies. Just... not my cup of tea, so much. I know Bat in the Sun is pretty quality, though. So I decided to watch Patient J. And it is MADE OF WIN. At first the Joker's voice put me off a little, but then I realized I actually really want to be making out with him. Leik nao plzkthx. Anyway it's worth watching, at least. Although I was a little taken aback that they went there with the HAY JASON TODD, MEET MAH CROWBAR thing. But eh. And also Red Hood's helmet kind of looked exactly like this trashcan I saw at Target once and I may or may not have started cracking up a lot. And Joker looking at the pictures of Bab, and being all "ooh... that poor white carpet!" ROFL. And OMG SPATS. If there's one thing that I literally cannot resist, it is a man in spats. The very ending might possibly have made me go EEEHEHEHE. Oh and ps: I'm not sure I agree with a few continuity matters in it.

Best line: Oooh, it's getting... dramatic in here. *cracks toes*

Other best line: Ya know... I get that a lot.

So go watch it. But do it on google video, cause I don't think all 5 parts are on youtube.

comic WANT list

- Mad Love
- Batman/Superman #51 & 52
- The Joker: Devil's Advocate
- Arkham Asylum: a serious house on serious earth
- Emperor Joker
- Joker's Asylum (...any of them that have pretty art)
- DC Comics Superdictionary (HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!)
- The Batman Adventures #3, vol 2
- Gotham adventures #10
- No Man's Land, that one where Harley had gotten her hands on that self-help book, and was walking all over Mistah J. XD
- Umm, probably anything DCAU involving Joker
- Robin #85
- Gotham Adventures #1
- Detective Comics #826
- Batman: Black & White, vol 2 (really just for "case study"... Alex Ross! <3)
- The Batman Adventures #16, vol 2, "The Bride of the Joker" (HOW WAS THIS NOT ON MY LIST EARLIER.)

I think... I think I would like to have The Killing Joke. I know, it seems like such a no brainer, but I have a really hard time with what happens to Barbara. The pictures. It... it bothers me more than anything I've ever encountered in any fandom I've liked. It's such a damn good story, though. So iconic and amazing.

Also, I'd love to own whatever one had The Laughing Fish in it. Because... it's awesome.

BATMAN GUNDAM WTF.

So I may or may not have spent the vast majority of my afternoon and evening watching Batman animated series. Both of them. The older one is WAY better.

New infatuation: Harley Quinn and Mr. J!

7.20.2008

OMG. How is it humanly possible that I haven't watched Dr. Horrible's sing-along blog before this point in time? And how is it possible that Joss Wheadon is so rocking awesome at life?

I hear tell this is coming out on DVD sometime soon. I MUST OWN.

3.30.2008

They really should have cast David Wenham as Remus Lupin. I mean, no offence to David Thewlis, but... David Wenham is a lot closer to how I picture Remus in my head. What's funny is that I didn't notice this until I was watching 300...

tank'd!

So, on a more geeky note, tonight I tanked my first kingdom quest in the mmorpg I play (Fiesta... it's free! If you're into that kind of thing, come play with me on the Teva server.) It was a total blast! I mean, I'm only lvl 22, my def is like maybe 165 when I'm all buffed up... but I was the strongest fighter there, so I got to tank the bosses. What a power trip! Honestly, though, I was really nervous... because like, if I screwed up somehow, we'd lose and it'd be all my fault. But I had some pretty good clerics backing me up, and we pwn'd. I love tanking! It's my favorite.

And also? If someone would give me like, 50 silver, I promise to love them forever and ever and ever. Because I have the worst luck in the entire world enhancing. Seriously. I finally got my sword (it was green, too!) up to +7, but I keep on breaking shields. I've gone through like four in the past two days. No kidding. I have tremendous bad luck. And also am very poor. Boo.

2.26.2008

nerdy.

Gordon Freeman's most memorable lines:
(blatantly stolen from Something Awful)

"This tram ride is sweet. I can't imagine how horrible it would be to have to walk all the way out of here."

"Why don't we have a robot or something to push this sample into the core? This looks sort of dangerous."

"Yes Barney, we should have a beer when this is all over. Maybe even two! Ha ha."

"I went to MIT and got a degree in KICKING YOUR ASS! Boomshakalaka!"

"Has anyone else noticed a creepy guy in a suit lurking around this Lambda complex?"

"Wait, Dog, why don't you come with me instead of going home? Your ability to lift objects that weigh several tons and kill like fifty combine soldiers without taking any damage might help in some way."

"Alyx, if we don't get out of these harnesses before Dr. Breen kills us both, I want you to know something. I love you. I've always loved you. Oh look at me, now I'm crying again."

"Ha ha ha, zombines."

2.25.2008

a goal.

I want to finish unpacking by this weekend. ...So I can start some sewing projects. The other day I came across my supplies for making my Black Mesa t-hoodie, like the one Alyx wears... and I waaaants it.

In other news, I need a dress form. Like a lot.

10.09.2007

update.

So, all the people who told me I'd like that TV show Chuck? Yeah, they were right.

Umm... yeah. So I'm working at this haunted forest this month. It's pretty awesome. I basically crouch in the woods all night and jump out and scare the heck out of people. And also, for the curious, getting airbrush makeup done hurts.

I've recently started playing my bodhran. I bought it like a year and a half ago, but I've never really learned to play it. I bought a tutorial video about a year ago, though, and last week I decided to give it another shot, and this time 'round it all clicked! By the way, it turns out that people who play the bodhran are stereotypically nerdy and socially awkward, and are almost always men. ...I swear, it's just my lot in life. I can't get away from my destiny, I suppose.

rvb.

Red vs. blue finished? It's over?

...What rock have I been hiding under?

9.17.2007

want. now.

There's no way around it. I simply must, somehow, play FF7: Crisis Core. Must. Have to. Absolutely.

There's far, far too much Sephiroth in that game for me to not play it.

Must. Have. It.

dragon*con.

Dragon*con totally rocked my face off.

Where do I start? ...At the beginning, I suppose.

We got there Friday evening, after dinner. Checked in to our cute little hotel room in the fancy old hotel (built in 1911, how cool is that?) then... off to the convention. To be honest, I don't even really remember Friday night. It was such a long weekend, and we did so much, that Friday just seems too long ago. I suppose we wandered around. We didn't stay out too late, because we knew Saturday was gonna be a long, long day...

And it was. But it was also freaking awesome. That was the day I wore my lovely Kaylee dress (see bottom of post) that Merlin made for me. Merlin was dressed as River. We got there at like 10 am, and we were there till at least midnight. It was crazy awesome! I felt like a famous person, like three dozen people took my picture (I'm not exaggerating, for once!). Every two seconds someone was like "Wow, can I take your picture?" It was cool, but it made me very tired. Or maybe that was the corset. Anyway, what did we actually do on Saturday? We wandered around the dealer and exibit rooms... we went into the Walk of Fame, but we didn't actually meet anyone famous, because their lines were all like a million hours long. The Phelps twins were there, but their line was longer than anyone else's, so we just forgot about it. If they're not Alan Tudyk, it's not worth the effort... Anyway, we kind of just putzed around the whole day. Then that evening we went to the Shindig! It was... not that totally awesome, to be honest. We met some cool people in the Firefly costume contest (I didn't place, by the way, but a lot of people told me they thought I should've...), though, and it was kind of an adventure walking over to the other hotel for the Shindig with them. I wish I'd gotten Lars' email address... he was cool.

Then on Sunday Merlin was Tifa from FF7:AC, and I was Reno. It was fun, but we were so tired by that point. We hit up a couple panels, and just kinda chilled. Then we went home.

Pretty much the most awesome weekend ever. I adore cons... something about being with your own kind, you know? Everyone there knows what I'm talking about. They don't think I'm crazy. I fit in. Everyone there is nerdy and geeky and wonderful. Except the creepy almost-naked goth people. But we don't have to talk about them...

8.27.2007

d*con

I'm starting to get pretty psyched about dragon*con this weekend! Merlin and I got a fancy hotel room in downtown Atlanta... living the posh life, eh? And my wonderful, wonderful Kaylee dress is nearly done! Then for Sunday I'm whipping up a Reno costume. Eeee!! I love this stuff. Unfortunately Adam Ballwin canceled, so the only people from Firefly that'll be there are Book and Badger... meh. But... Holly Black will be there!!! That's very exciting. Also David Prowse, and Peter Mayhew, and Ray Park... I want to get a Ray Park autograph for Nicole, cause I'm pretty sure she would just die if she had one. Hee. So my mind is becoming totally consumed with the convention. Kind of unfortunate, because I do have a programming assignment to turn in before we leave on Friday.

summer days.

Hi, blog. Been a while. I've been out of touch with the Internet for like four months now.

So, since I was last here, I've been to St. Louis, Jersey, Scotland, England, and New York. ...Man, so much. I don't really know where to start.

The whole summer was a total blast. Scotland was completely amazing. Alas, though, I have no tales of ale or hot Scottish boys. Too bad. Other than that, though, everything rocked. It was so beautiful. There were a lot of sheep. I ate haggis, and it was really pretty tasty, as long as you didn't think about it while you were eating it.

Camp was a lot of fun, too, though it was really hard sometimes, too. I learned a lot, and grew a lot. I feel older now than I did two months ago. I made some really good friends there. I really want to go back next summer... but who knows?

My entire life is really, really up in the air right now. You know how well I handle that, I'm sure... (hint: answer is, not at all). But I have a kind of peace about the whole thing. I'm not gonna go to Japan anymore. I'm moving back in with my parents in December. And... who knows what'll happen then?

Ooh, Dragon*Con is two weeks from yesterday. I can't wait! I'm gonna have the best costume in the whole convention, because Merlin is the best seamstress EVAR.
