GET OUT.

So I follow Neil Gaiman's blog with the vigour of a freaky cyber-stalker, right?  The other day he was cold, so he was hit with the impulse to get in his car and drove to... Florida?  And he's writing about his experience, when he states that he parked for a while to do an online radio show... and he parked on Lookout Mountain.  Holy freaking cow.  Makes me wish I'd been there this week... imagine going to the Starbucks, and glancing in the car parked next to you and it was Neil freaking Gaiman?  I'd've died on the spot.

Speaking of, I'm getting that urge again to drive back down there.  It's just so pretty... but I really can't.  I just got back from Jersey, and Amy (and maybe Merlin?  Hint hint poke poke?) are coming in late March, and I just plain old can't afford to take time off between now and then.  Especially if I'm seriously considering ComiCon this summer.  Which I totally am.

Hmm.... ComiCon.  Well, it's $75 for the entire weekend, or between $25-35 per day.  That's... doable.  I'm just scared to comit, because I like to pretend like there's a possibility I'd be getting a real job between now and July.  Which, of course, is assuming I'd actually get off my lazy, lazy butt and send in an application or resume to someone somewhere.  Which is an awfully big assumption.

Bah.  BAH!

Dear Mookie-

I'm not sure if I love you or I hate you for leaving us with such an AWESOME cliffhanger, but.... EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEJACOBJACOBJACOBYEEEEYYYYY!!!!!

12.20.2008

go ask Alice.

So, everyone ever knows that Depp is gonna be the Hatter in Burton's Alice in Wonderland movie.  Which is probably the best casting decision I've ever heard in my entire life.  What I want to know, though is... WHY DID NOBODY TELL ME THAT ALAN RICKMAN IS GOING TO BE IN IT??!?! EEEEEEHEHEHEHEEE!

12.15.2008

Do it now.

I don't care if you don't read webcomics. I don't care if you don't understand the whole anthropomorphism thing (heaven knows I don't).   I.  Don't.  Care.

Go read Lackadaisy right now.

Yes, now.  It's not all that long, the archive won't take you forever to go through.  It's amazing.  And the art is gorgeous.  And it's set in the TWENTIES.  You know, I think I could have an entire wardrobe made up of nothing but clothing of the 20s and 30s, and be very, very happy.  I love it.  Have I mentioned how it's time for spats to make a comeback?  No?

Anyway, go read it.  Trust me.  Would I lead you astray?

Good Omens.

It is three in the morning, and I just finished reading the best book that I have ever read in my entire life.

I am not exaggerating. I have read a lot of good books. I have read a lot of books that I thoroughly enjoyed. This one, that I just finished? Is the best book I have ever read.

It is called Good Omens, and it is by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman, and it is amazing.

I'm far too sleep deprived to form coherent thoughts right now.  It was just SO GOOD.  On more than one instance I laughed so hard I was nearly crying.  My favorites, though, were the moments where I could do nothing but hug the book and squee loudly to myself.  That happened quite a bit.  I think, quite possibly, I might have kissed it at some point.  It was seriously just. that. good.

You know how when you're getting to the end of a book and you're reading fast and crazy because you want to see how it finishes and yet you're still kind of sad because you know once you're done it'll be all over and the story will be finished and you never want it to end?  I didn't really have that, because I knew that once I finished it, I was going to start it over again.  And again.  And again.

I am so ridiculously in love with this book.  And with Crowley, but that's a rant for another time.  Preferably a time other than three in the morning.

12.03.2008

hmm.

I cannot help but draw some distinct parallels between Sirius and Remus, and Crowley and Aziraphale. ...And that's alright with me.

11.21.2008

who'd've thought.

So I can scarcely believe the words about to come out of my mouth (out of my keyboard?) but...

I actually really enjoyed myself, watching Twilight.

...I know, right?!  I went into it expecting abject dissapointment.  The previews looked corny, the posters hardly looked promising, and yet... I had a blast.

Though I would never recommend it to someone who hasn't read the book.  It kind of felt almost more like a visual guide to the text, you know?  Even though practically everything (with the exception of like, Charlie, and maybe Emmett) didn't look the slightest bit how I pictured it in my mind.  Can anyone explain to me why I was so positive Bella and Charlie lived in a cabin?

But I really did like it.  Some parts were kind of awkward, of course.  I didn't really like the whole way they did the "leik zomg ur a vampire rn't u" scene, but I guess they didn't exactly have time to do the whole hunting around for the meadow bit.  Also some of Bella's acting skills near the beginning left me a little meh.

The baseball scene?  MADE OF EPIC WINZ.  Love love love.  And Billy was totally cracking me up, as was Esme.  And, am I remembering incorrectly, or was Mike never that freaking adorable ever in the book?  Because I kind of wanted to hug him and pat him on the head and adopt him.  Along with Jacob.  Whom I adore (okay okay SSH, I still haven't read the last two books!).

...And omg, Carlisle.  Want.  Now plz.

So all in all, the experience was definitely a positive one, much to my shock and amazement.  I want to see it again.  Preferably sometime soon.  I do love me some dark fantasy sappy romance, I will not lie.

Did I mention I'm kind of madly in love with Carlisle?  No?  Because I kind of totally am.

I would just like to take a second to say how totally and ridiculously awesome Rainn Wilson looked in that Joker costume. I want one. (By "I want one," I don't mean an awesome Joker costume. I mean a Rainn Wilson in a Joker costume.)

greedy.

I am definitely of the opinion that someone needs to be buying me this and this. Leik nao kthx.

9.30.2008

BATMAN GUNDAM WTF.

So I may or may not have spent the vast majority of my afternoon and evening watching Batman animated series. Both of them. The older one is WAY better.

New infatuation: Harley Quinn and Mr. J!

7.18.2008

OMG AI CONCERT.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

I feel like such a thirteen year old girl right now, you have no idea.

3.30.2008

They really should have cast David Wenham as Remus Lupin. I mean, no offence to David Thewlis, but... David Wenham is a lot closer to how I picture Remus in my head. What's funny is that I didn't notice this until I was watching 300...

2.26.2008

nerdy.

Gordon Freeman's most memorable lines:
(blatantly stolen from Something Awful)

"This tram ride is sweet. I can't imagine how horrible it would be to have to walk all the way out of here."

"Why don't we have a robot or something to push this sample into the core? This looks sort of dangerous."

"Yes Barney, we should have a beer when this is all over. Maybe even two! Ha ha."

"I went to MIT and got a degree in KICKING YOUR ASS! Boomshakalaka!"

"Has anyone else noticed a creepy guy in a suit lurking around this Lambda complex?"

"Wait, Dog, why don't you come with me instead of going home? Your ability to lift objects that weigh several tons and kill like fifty combine soldiers without taking any damage might help in some way."

"Alyx, if we don't get out of these harnesses before Dr. Breen kills us both, I want you to know something. I love you. I've always loved you. Oh look at me, now I'm crying again."

"Ha ha ha, zombines."

9.17.2007

want. now.

There's no way around it. I simply must, somehow, play FF7: Crisis Core. Must. Have to. Absolutely.

There's far, far too much Sephiroth in that game for me to not play it.

Must. Have. It.

d*con

I'm starting to get pretty psyched about dragon*con this weekend! Merlin and I got a fancy hotel room in downtown Atlanta... living the posh life, eh? And my wonderful, wonderful Kaylee dress is nearly done! Then for Sunday I'm whipping up a Reno costume. Eeee!! I love this stuff. Unfortunately Adam Ballwin canceled, so the only people from Firefly that'll be there are Book and Badger... meh. But... Holly Black will be there!!! That's very exciting. Also David Prowse, and Peter Mayhew, and Ray Park... I want to get a Ray Park autograph for Nicole, cause I'm pretty sure she would just die if she had one. Hee. So my mind is becoming totally consumed with the convention. Kind of unfortunate, because I do have a programming assignment to turn in before we leave on Friday.
